Munich, Germany (Dec. 25) – The Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University continues to strengthen its international academic network through the implementation of the World Class University (WCU) Program under the International Collaboration with Top 200 QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) Universities scheme, in partnership with Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), Germany. LMU is one of the world’s leading universities and is ranked 58th globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.

The event, held from December 8–16, 2025, in Munich, is a follow-up to the formal partnership between UNDIP and LMU, as outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with a focus on strengthening academic and research collaboration to international standards. During the event, various academic and research interactions were conducted with LMU researchers led by Prof. Wolfgang W Schmahl, including in-depth scientific discussions, exchange of laboratory expertise, and exploration of opportunities for long-term collaborative research. Dr. Yustina M Pusparizkita played an active role in research discussions, the synchronization of the collaboration roadmap, and the formulation of joint research directions aligned with global priorities in the fields of sustainable materials, biomaterials engineering, and environmental innovation.

The main outcome of this initiative is an Implementation Agreement (IA) that has been signed by both parties. Through this collaboration, the Department of Environmental Engineering at UNDIP is expected to continue improving the quality of its research, expand its global academic network, and make a tangible contribution to achieving UNDIP’s vision of becoming a world-class university.
